　　面试解读

　　英国学校在面试来自非英语国家的考生时，侧重点主要有两个：第一，这个孩子的英语水平怎么样，能不能够正常学习英国的课程;第二，这个孩子是不是聪明。

　　有一个现象我觉得挺有趣。就我的感觉，中国国内的老师一般会回避用‘聪明’一词，我们听到的一般都是‘这个学生很优秀’，或者‘很认真’、‘很刻苦’之类的评价。可能是我们的教育认为一个学生聪明与否，不容易衡量，所以会用一些我们认为是更客观的词语来形容。

　　而在英国，大家不回避用clever、bright(意思都是聪明)之类的词来形容学习好的学生。前一段时间和一个教育组织的首席执行官探讨中英两国中学生在数理化方面的知识水平，她用的表达是：“When we tested one of our brigh test students?(当我们测试我们最聪明的学生的时候??)”。

　　当然，“聪明”与否，自然是有面试老师的主官判断因素，但是面试的目的不是通过难题、怪题来为难孩子。如果孩子的英文够好，一方面能够和面试老师顺利交流，另一方面可以正面回答面试老师的问题(而不是拐弯抹角，或者答非所问)，在行为举止方面能够留下良好印象，面试老师通常会认为孩子足够“聪明”，面试也就可以通过。

　　面对英国面试老师能够不怯场，发挥出自己应有的水平，对于年龄较小的孩子是有难度的。作为考生，难免会对面试有所畏惧，但是如果面试表现好，有时也可以弥补笔试中的发挥失常。

　　如何备考

　　起初在辅导孩子进入英国中学的时候，我们采用英国人的思维方式，觉得毕竟只是中学阶段，不用做过多的准备，能考到什么程度就考到什么程度。

　　后来见的案例越来越多，我们的看法有了很大改变。中学阶段的孩子，除非在国际学校接受全英语教育，在准备笔试和面试方面获得老师的指导和不获得老师的指导，效果确实会不同。最大的问题应该还是语言关：首先，英语笔试是有一定难度的，而且考察方式和国内的英语考试不同。其次，在其他科目方面，中英两国的考试侧重面不同，在需要按照英国的学习方式巩固知识点外，词汇量也需要提高。

　　在面试方面，一方面需要练习口语，另一方面，如果能给孩子一些训练，让他们能够在这种场合下表现出比较放松的状态，及英国人习惯的礼仪，会对面试有帮助。

　　国内的孩子很规矩，但在表现自己的时候常常会很拘谨，不够放松、不够自然。我印象深刻的一次是在伦敦去看了一场由国内的一支少年乐队演奏的音乐会。看到十几岁的孩子们能够演奏得那么好，我心里在感叹他们真不容易的同时，有一点遗憾。因为演奏的美中不足在于大多数孩子可能是因为特别专注于弹奏乐器，更可能是因为紧张，面部表情比较僵硬，看不出他们在享受演奏，也看不出他们内心陶醉于音乐。
